Music therapy has been clinically proven that music therapy is essential to ease the mind out of problems, doubts, fear, nervous, pressure, panicked, and confusion. Therefore, this type of music has been applied extensively in the field of medical and psychology to treat the patients.
Music therapy is usually regarded as an emerging natural sound or rhythm that helps to relax the mind and spirit. It is not only a branch of art but also a useful tool to purify the confusion mind into a healthy state. It has been clinically proven that music therapy is essential to ease the mind out of problems, doubts, fear, nervous, pressure, panicked, and confusion. Therefore, this type of music has been applied extensively in the field of medical and psychology to treat the patients.
From the past history, we understand that music played a significant role among the community of ancient people. The music was regarded as part of their lives. Besides the four basic needs of food, air, water, and shelter, humans have survived with music to achieve the aesthetic and recreational purposes. The head of each tribe, held two positions of being a doctor or a music consultant. In ancient Greek, the Apollo God was in charge of music and medicine, reflecting that music and treatment were inter-related.
From the ancient Greece until the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, then proceeded to the 17, 18, 19 and 20th centuries in America and Europe countries, we have come across with many reports that related music with psychology, treatment, and health. Most doctors and psychiatrics have employed music to treat many unusual and abnormal diseases. In 1878, in New York, one of the refuges, have 1,400 mentally ill patients being experienced for a series of music therapy. It had been proved that the patients felt soothing and relaxing after going through music treatments for certain periods. Thereafter, from the 19th and 20th centuries, music therapy gained attentions from the professional communities.
The music therapy was used extensively since the beginning of the 20th century with the first invention of Gramophone, in which the music could be reported and later be played repeatedly and repeatedly, thereby contributing a milestone in the clinical related treatment. The hospitals started using music to help patients sleep well, reduce the tense and pain during the surgery was carried out, ease affliction besides help anesthesia patients who were in treatment. During the World War II, the hospital in America was lack of facilities, the injured soldiers were not in a good mood and thus they kept on screaming and scolding due to an unbearable pain. One doctor put the Gramophone to play on some familiar country songs, and he was accidentally found that the music had calmed the mood of those soldiers. Not long after that, many countries like Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Uruguay, Japan, New Zealand, Israel, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Finland, Italy, America and other Europe countries have established a Music Therapy Association to assist in mental treatment.
