No “if” or “why”, but these bizarre-sounding diseases do exist in our world. Their existence is undeniably shocking in the medical communities as they are indeed rare, odd, and weird.

Necrotizing Fasciitis

Necrotizing Fasciitis (NF) is a severe but rare flesh-eating disease which is believed to be infected by bacteria called Streptococcus pyogenes or group A beta-hemolytic streptococci. This rapidly spreading infection can result in damaged and dead tissue (also known as necrosis).

Elephantiasis

Patients suffering from this disease will have extreme enlargement of their limbs and other parts of their bodies. This rare disease is reported to be caused by an obstruction of the lymphatic vessels causing extreme swelling of the body tissues and skin, especially in the lower part of the body. As there is an abnormal accumulation of fluid within the tissues (edema), severe swelling among elephantiasis patients is also very common. Due to obstructed blood vessels, elephantiasis can restrict blood supply causing skin to be infected easily.

Exploding head syndrome

With this rare condition, one often experiences terribly loud sounds as though his or her head is going to explore. They can occasionally hear sharp screaming, non-stop weapon sounds and other explosion-like sounds, causing them to stay in unrest, in a nervous and stressful state. This disease is unimaginably terrible beyond belief.

Human Wolf Syndrome

Those who are suffering from this human wolf syndrome do not look normal. There is much hair growing abnormally especially on their faces, making their physical appearance to be similar to a wolf.

Progeria

This is a rare medical condition that causes rapid human aging in childhood. This disease is terrible that it makes most children look just like 80-year-old people. Worst still, there is no treatment for progeria and children with progeria have very short lifespans, with most of them only living up to 30 years.

Vampire Syndrome (porphyria)

People with this syndrome hate to sunbathe or expose themselves to sunlight. They feel unbearable pain when their skin gets exposed to sunlight and excessive sun exposure can also shorten their lives. They strongly believe that their bodies are a corpse without a living soul in them.

Zombie-like Illness

We’ve seen zombies in fiction movies but in real life, there is a zombie-like illness in which the victims like to act just like a zombie. They prefer to decorate themselves like a real zombie and walk down the street just like a walking dead corpse. Most of them are mentally ill and have suicidal tendencies.

Pica

You may be surprised to see that there are those who enjoy eating mud, soil, paper, and other waste materials just like you might enjoy eating snacks or doughnuts. The causes of this disease, up to now, have not been clinically documented.

Alice in Wonderland Syndrome

People with this syndrome have a neurological disorder that disrupts the impulses sent from the eyes to the brain causing a distortion in their visual perception. They may see images that are too big or too small related to the actual real image sizes. They may see their house as big as a kennel or as small as bird nest. The defect in vision can cause odd hallucinations that sometimes confuse or frighten them.

Aquagenic urticaria

Aquagenic urticaria or water urticaria is a rare form of disease in which any contact with water causes hives resembling raised red wheals. Due to skin sensitivity, the victims are allergic to water. They cannot cry as crying causes pain on the face. In most situations, they can only take quick showers lasting seconds not minutes and must also avoid getting caught out in the rain.

Final remark:

No humiliating and laughing at these unfortunate people, please! Think that, if you’re one of them, will you allow others to humiliate or laugh at you? Please show your caring heart towards these communities. After reading this article, you should appreciate your present appearance. No more grumbling about your look, please! Let’s pray for their well being and healthy!
